Daikin establishes India R&D subsidiary for Global South HVAC

Daikin Industries will establish Daikin Research and Development India Private Limited to strengthen product development for the Global South, including Asia, Oceania and Africa. The subsidiary will lead construction of an R&D center in Haryana, India, scheduled for completion in June 2028.

The center will focus particularly on developing HVAC systems for large-scale facilities. Daikin said demand is expanding as economic growth and urbanization drive construction of data centers, factories and commercial facilities across the Global South.

The subsidiary is expected to be established in July 2026 and will be registered in New Delhi. Its business activities will cover HVAC system development, with capital of INR 8 billion, equivalent to approximately JPY 13.6 billion at INR 1 to JPY 1.7.

Daikin Industries will hold 100% of the subsidiary, including 0.001% through indirect ownership. The company said the effect on its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, is expected to be minimal.
