Trane Technologies announced the appointment of Donny Simmons as chief operating officer, effective July 1, 2026, as the company restructures its leadership around a larger business and broader market opportunities. Simmons will report to Chair and CEO Dave Regnery and will take responsibility for regional business units and operations, combining those functions under one executive role.
The change comes as Trane Technologies says its annual revenue has nearly doubled since 2020, when it began operating as a pure-play climate company. The new structure is intended to tighten coordination between regional businesses and operations and to speed execution across the group.
Simmons most recently served as Group President of the Americas region, where he oversaw commercial and residential HVAC, transport refrigeration and life science solutions. In the COO role, he will manage a wider operating scope as Trane Technologies positions itself around demand linked to the energy transition, climate-related technologies and the expansion of artificial intelligence.
He has been with the company for 25 years and joined in 2001. During that period, he has led Commercial HVAC in North America and EMEA, along with several global industrial businesses, and has held leadership posts spanning general management, sales, manufacturing and finance.
The appointment takes effect at the start of the second half of 2026 and signals a stronger operating emphasis as Trane Technologies aligns its business units more closely with execution. Regnery said the move is intended to bring regional businesses and operations together under one leader, deepen collaboration and accelerate the company’s strategy.
