LG expands European heat pump portfolio with R290 and VRF systems

LG Electronics is strengthening its position in Europe’s residential heat pump market with a portfolio of high-efficiency heat pump solutions. The company said demand is rising across Europe for energy-efficient systems using low-GWP refrigerants, and it is offering products tailored to local residential environments.

The portfolio includes air-to-water heat pumps, VRF solutions and integrated hot water systems. LG’s Therma V R290 Monobloc uses R290 refrigerant with very low Global Warming Potential and is designed to provide heating in outdoor temperatures as low as minus 28 degrees Celsius (minus 18.4 degrees Fahrenheit). It can supply domestic hot water of up to 75 degrees Celsius (167 degrees Fahrenheit).

The monobloc design connects indoor and outdoor units through water piping only, reducing the need for refrigerant piping indoors. LG also offers Multi V i, which combines R32 refrigerant with a high-efficiency inverter compressor and smart control, including safety functions that activate automated protection responses when a refrigerant leak is detected.

Multi V S is a compact VRF solution with flexible system integration, energy management capabilities, smart individual controllers and a user-friendly interface. LG also introduced Combi Unit, Hydro Unit and Control Unit indoor units for air-to-water heat pump systems, which received 2026 iF Design Award and 2026 Red Dot Design Award recognition.

LG said it supplied Multi V i and indoor units for about 1,000 residential units at Calle Fuerzas Armadas in Spain. In Serbia, the company supplied Multi V S and indoor units for King’s Circle Residences in Belgrade, and Multi V i, Multi V S and residential air conditioners for The One residences in Belgrade.

“As Europe’s residential heat pump market continues to evolve, demand is growing for solutions that are energy efficient, environmentally responsible and easy to install,” said James Lee, president of LG ES Company. “We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness through a diverse heat pump portfolio and engineering capabilities tailored to real site needs.”
