UNEP and MLF Secretariat hold Africa webinar on CP data reporting

UNEP OzonAction, in collaboration with the Multilateral Fund Secretariat, held a regional webinar for Africa on April 16, 2026, titled “Mastering the CP Data Online Reporting System”. The session aimed to help National Ozone Units improve the accuracy and timeliness of Country Programme data submissions ahead of the May 1, 2026 deadline.

The webinar was opened by Tina Birmpili, Chief Officer of the Multilateral Fund Secretariat, who said high-quality Country Programme data is important for effective implementation of the Montreal Protocol.

During the session, staff from the Multilateral Fund Secretariat provided practical guidance on using the CP Data Online Reporting System and demonstrated the shift from Excel-based reporting to the online portal. The presentations covered submission workflows, common reporting challenges, and approaches to improve data accuracy and consistency.

Topics included discrepancies between Article 7 and Country Programme data, HFC baseline challenges, and the role of accurate Country Programme data in Kigali Implementation Plan submissions, including reporting on HFCs and blends. UNEP OzonAction moderated interactive Q&A sessions with participants from the region.

The webinar closed with remarks by James S. Curlin, Head of UNEP OzonAction, who reaffirmed UNEP’s commitment to supporting African countries in meeting their reporting obligations and strengthening national capacity under the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment.
